Eilean Eisdeal - The Easdale Island Trust

Easdale is a small island in Argyll on the west coast of Scotland, 16 miles south of Oban. 'Eilean Eisdeal', the Easdale Island Trust, is a charitable organisation run by residents and friends of the island to carry out projects on the island of benefit to the community and with the long term aim of regeneration and sustainability for the island.

The Trust was set up in 1997. Its first major project, the renovation of a unique slate built hall on the island for use as an arts and community centre, is now complete. The wonderful new hall officially opened in May 2003. Ongoing Trust projects include the repair and regeneration of Easdale's historic harbour; and the implementation of a refuse and sewage disposal system for recycling much of the island's waste. The re-opened Easdale Island Community Hall is host to the Eilean Eisdeal Arts Programme and other community activities and is also available for functions such as weddings and conferences.
